This has been a key program for KENVO and is the impetus behind its formation. KENVO works to rehabilitate the degraded parts of the Kikuyu Escarpment Forest, emphasizing community involvement.
KENVO school outreach program concentrate more on training schools environmental clubs members on matters pertaining environmental conservation in Lari sub-county in Kiambu County.
KENVO is involved in various exchange programmes. At local level, KENVO facilitates peer learning and exchange visits for community groups particularly those of local farmers.
The idea of forming Kijabe Environment Volunteers was conceived in 1992 after the realization that the surrounding forest was becoming degraded due to environmentally destructive practices. Two of the founder members had acquired some knowledge on forests and natural resources. They hatched the idea of a youth group in the form of a ‘think-tank’ which would address environmental issues as a core, but also other wider social issues affecting the youth within this society.
