Anne Wangari Kamanu
Project Officer, Environmental Conservation

Am a conservationist who loves to add value to the nature through tree planting. I believe that every tree I plant I plant HOPE for the future generation. Also am a disciple of the Late Wangari Maathai and KENVO is the place to be in conserving Kereita Forest and other forest block.

Bernard Nganga Kamau
Projects Coordinator

Joined KENVO since inception and have worked on various capacities that include, Program supervisor-youth Department 2005-2008, program manager youth Department 2008-2014.Also served as KENVO chairperson for two years. Have vast knowledge on human resource issues and currently in charge of Organization’s enterprises.

James Kamau Manyara
Environmental Education Officer

Am KENVO environmental officer with the following qualifications: certificate in Fundamental of ornithology from national museum of Kenya, certificate in Hospitality and tourism management. See more

From ZETECH University, Bronze level in tour guiding from Kenya professional safari guide association . I have 8 years of tour guiding experiences especially for bird’s clients, hikers and camping. 15 years working as KENVO tree nursery manager. Am a former officer at Center for environmental action where I was in Charge of Barclays Eco-champ program (a program that I was training schools environmental clubs on environmental conservation country wide –where each former provinces I had two schools) in KENVO am currently in charge of School Program.

Joel Mwaniki Ndung’u
Project Officer Youth Department

He is a Youth mentor and supervisor working with KENVO for over 15yrs in youth exchange programs and youth empowerment activities.
He is an enthusiastic and professional guide, and loves adventure, hiking, mountaineering and safaris. See more

Joel developed his hiking interests in high school after joining the Kijabe Environment Volunteers and participated in the establishment of hiking trails in the kikuyu escarpment forests, particularly the Kereita forest.
He is motivated by outdoor activities and driven by a passion for environmental conservation as well as community-based tourism.
Currently working with KENVO as a project officer youth department.

Julius Kimani Kariara
Natural Resources Manager

I am Natural Resources Manager with over 15 years experience in Conservation. I work with Kijabe Environment Volunteers as a project officer. I have a background in both research and project management that promotes sustainable management of natural resources, See more

environmental protection and community conservation and restoration of degraded ecosystems. I am currently engaged implementing a payment for ecosystem services for program to support long-term conservation financing in Kikuyu Escarpment.

Julius is a holder of a Masters of Science degree in Management of Protected areas and a Bachelors of Science degree in Forestry.

Leah W. Mwangi
Acting Executive Director

A long time Project Manager with over 15 years’ experience in community based natural resource management, organizational development, project management and leadership training. See more

Interested in nature conservation and empowering rural communities. She is inspired by the impact KENVO makes in changing lives and nature. While not working at KENVO she likes to spend time with teenagers mentoring them into realising their full potential.

Michael Njihia Kibuika
Project Officer, Youth Department

Later pursued a Diploma in Environmental Management and worked in a Carbon Credit company for five (5) years as community Liaison Officer and later reinstated to KENVO in 2017 as a Research assistant.
Michael has been so passionate for environmental conservation since he has been brought up in and near the forest. KENVO was doing a tremendous work in conservation hence decided to join the organization to ensure natural resources are well conserved locally and globally and has been the pillar for his tertiary education since he met the sponsor in the KENVO’s programs. The team has lived as one family in all aspects of life.

Samuel Kimere Gakobo

Zipporah Mugure Kamau
Finance Officer

Zipporah Joined KENVO as a volunteer in 2002 and has grown in the ladder to the ranks of the current Organization’s Finance Officer. She is responsible for all Organization’s finance matters and has as well worked with youths both in school and outside school in the KENVO mentorship programme.
Zipporah has over 10 years of experience in Finance Management and Donor fund reporting.

Francis Kamau Gicheche
Logistics officer

He is the logistics officer and the driver of the institution. Francis developed a special interest in environmental conservation and joined KENVO as a member and later employed. He has been actively been coordinating and participating in forest restoration program within the organization.

What We Are Good At

KENVO has helped improve the livelihood of communities, reduce threats on biodiversity and develop youth leadership. It collaborates with key stakeholders such as government departments, research institutions, private sector, and other development agencies to inform, educate and build the capacity of communities to embrace appropriate conservation practices in a sustainable way.
